What to Include in a Photography and Videography Brief
A clear brief helps a production team propose the right approach. It should explain the outcome, constraints and finished work without trying to specify every camera decision.

Start with purpose
Name the audience, the message and what you want people to do after seeing the work. Include a few references with an explanation of what matters: pace, atmosphere, framing or the treatment of people. References are guidance, not permission to copy another creator's work.
Add the production facts
Give dates, locations, participants, access restrictions and a budget range. Identify fixed moments and anything still provisional. Tell the team about confidentiality, consent, languages and who coordinates on the day.
List the outputs
Specify edited photographs, films, formats, intended channels and deadlines. Name reviewers and a final approver. Ask the producer to return a scope with assumptions and exclusions so unanswered questions are visible before booking.
