How to Plan a Realistic Video Production Timeline
A video deadline needs room for preparation, filming, editing and review. Working backwards from publication helps identify decisions that must happen first.

Allow for preparation
The brief, access, participants, location decisions and permissions must be ready before filming. Assign owners and dates to these tasks. Booking a camera day does not automatically make the production ready to proceed.
Schedule post-production
Allow time for selection, assembly, sound, graphics and versions. Interviews may need transcription or translation. Ask the producer to explain when the first review is realistic based on the actual deliverables.
Reserve review time
Name the people who approve facts, branding and the final edit. Consolidate notes and include time for corrections and export checks. If publication is urgent, reduce the agreed scope deliberately rather than assuming every stage can be compressed without consequence.
