What to Agree about Raw Footage and Final Files
Raw footage, edited exports and editable project files are different deliverables. Discuss them before booking if your team needs to reuse or re-edit material.

Define the files
Finished films are prepared for viewing. Camera originals may include tests, duplicates and material requiring specialist software. Project files can depend on fonts, plugins or licensed assets. Ask what a proposed handover actually contains.
Discuss reuse
Explain whether another editor or partner will work with the material. Confirm the permitted uses and any restrictions attached to music, participants or locations. Do not assume a finished-film licence automatically answers every question about onward editing.
Plan transfer and retention
Large files need a suitable delivery method and storage capacity. Agree download periods, archive expectations and any additional handover costs. Keep your own verified copies of delivered work rather than assuming the production company will retain every file indefinitely.
