Building Consent and Safeguarding into a Production Brief
Consent and safeguarding affect the production schedule, locations and visual approach. Share the organization's requirements before fieldwork is priced or participants are approached.

Assign responsibility
Name the safeguarding lead, local coordinator and person who stores consent records. Explain the process for adults, children and sensitive situations under the organization's policy. The production team needs clear instructions and a route for questions.
Plan alternatives
Some stories can be told through environment, work processes, hands or non-identifying details. Decide when identities or locations must be withheld. Do not assume blurring a face solves every risk if clothing, context or voice still identifies someone.
Carry conditions into delivery
Record restrictions alongside the assets and share them with editors and communications staff. Check short versions as well as the main film. If intended publication changes, review whether the original participation agreement remains appropriate.
