Choosing Outfits for a Professional Safari Portrait Session

Clothes should suit the setting, weather and activity. A portrait session is easier when everyone can move comfortably and the group looks coordinated without feeling dressed as a uniform.

Start with practical layers

Ask your operator about clothing requirements for the planned activity. Use layers that work with the temperature and avoid outfits that need constant fixing. Bring shoes suitable for the actual ground. Clothing for a lodge portrait may differ from clothing required during an excursion.

Coordinate the group lightly

Pick a small range of colours already present in your wardrobe. Large logos, dense patterns and highly reflective accessories can draw attention away from faces. You do not need to buy matching sets. Photograph the proposed outfits together on a bed if you want to check how they relate.

Prepare the small details

Pack a spare top for children and allow time to change before the session. Check pockets, visible straps and creases. Tell the photographer about hats or meaningful items you want included. The aim is a believable portrait of your trip, not a styling exercise that makes the holiday uncomfortable.
